How to get your money back from Dodo Wireless Broadband! 3G [WIN]

Ugly fuckin’ bird!

Dodo 3G is oversubscribed and has become hella slow, slower than dialup.

Meanwhile, the consumer has to pay for failed uploads / downloads for substandard service.

Calling their Australian Indian call center will not help if the tower is congested.  So the next step is to demand MONEY BACK.

This worked for me on my prepaid 3G broadband.  Do your homework first by following these steps.

  • Calculate what percentage of unused data you have left and calculate this against the initial data purchase price as the basis of refund
  • Fill out the online service support form at http://response.dodo.com.au or Google “Dodo complaint” to find the page link
  • State to Dodo that you wish to seek a refund based on the usable data left on your account.
  • Mention that the service is slow, unresponsive 3G broadband AND you will complain to the TIO if they don’t refund (complain anyway)
  • Also state that you have previously contacted their technical services, tried differed hardware, different location but all to no avail.

If they don’t not contact back in two days, contact them by phone and go through the standard loop of tech support, followed by escalation.  Finally state that you will require a refund for the crap service.

They will eventually credit back a refund and in 10 minutes your modem will be – no service.  Bye bye 3G Dodo aka Optus Shite.

It is time to make the Dodo extinct!

DODO 3G is slow as hell in Perth 2011

Dodo Prepaid

Long latency time (waiting over 1 minute occasionaly)
Frequent drop outs
Constant retrying (3G, 3G, 3G, 3G….. then H)
Full Signal Bars but noting, even in the CBD and tried with multiple modems

Fuck Dodo and Fuck Optus.  What used to be good is now Shit!

Complaint to the shitty tech service, asks for them to log into to your dashboard, but they can’t because the connection never connects….

Forget it, try someone else, no more DODO.

Ebay mobile version sucks on Android on everything

Why do these idiots at ebay waste their time, the mobile version of their site is so crippled it makes users want to curl up in a corner and die

Don’t even think you can use it to sell anything either, there is just no buttons for it – crippled.

Of course, uses can opt out and use the classic site (still not 100% on Android) but the redirect is cookie based and if you delete your cookies, you are presented with the same shit again.

The only solution is to create a bookmark www.ebay.com.au/?redirect=mobile

Don’t Buy Optus Prepaid Broadband

It is shit, really shit and I don’t recommend that you buy it, even if it is free.

Too many downloads, going 1-2% then stalling to dialup speed or zero KB/s.

At they same time they are robbing their customers with 10Mb increments.

Other people are pissed too!

[Solved] USB Tethering a ZTE V9 SD card using Ubuntu Linux

If you have a ZTE V9 (A.K.A Optus Mytab) and you are tethering it to a linux device, you may be having a little trouble getting the SD car to mount.  Personally, it will mount fine on a windows box but will not mount or show aything in dmesg on my Ubuntu box.

First of all…
You cannot USB mount the SD card and USB Internet tether at the same time, damm.  Portable hotspot still work though!

It is easy to get the USB mounting going though… (Done on Android 2.2)

On the ZTE V9, turn on USB debugging.  Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging

On you Linux machine (mine is Ubuntu 11.04)

gksudo gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb_modeswitch.rules

Search for “0083” and comment out the whole line, like this.
# ATTRS{idVendor}=="19d2", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0083", RUN+="usb_modeswitch '%b/

You should be able to plug in your USB cable and mount the SD card like any other USB storage device.

If you want to tether the Internet, you will have to unmount the SD card, so you can check the USB Internet tethering box.

If you have trouble, check you dmesg output upon connection, check you lsusb output and make sure that usb_modeswitch is updated.
